SBS Bus in Singapore


Public buses run daily from 5.30am to midnight, and their pick-up routes are extremely comprehensive throughout the island at regular intervals (less than 30 minutes between buses). There are also extended night services which cost slightly more. You can either pay via cash, or an EZ-Link cash card you can buy or top up value at any bus interchange or MRT station.
The two main bus operators in Singapore are SBS Transit Ltd and SMRT Buses Ltd.

1. Trunk Service
There are a total of 47 trunk services and special service, Bus 926 to the Singapore Zoological Garden. Area of operations includes Yishun, Woodlands, Bukit Panjang, Bukit Batok, Choa Chu Kang, Sembawang and the upcoming Simpang New Town.

2. Intra-town Service
SMRT Buses also operates 20 Intra-town services. This involve the merging of feeder services to provide direct links between neighbourhoods within the same town as well as to connect passengers to trunk services at bus interchanges and to the MRT. The letter, "E" indicates that the service will terminate at the interchange. It would not proceed beyond the interchange.

3. Night Rider Service
There are a total of 7 Night-rider services to Yishun, Sembawang, Choa Chu Kang, Jurong West, Sengkang, Pasir Ris and Bukit Batok. These services are only available on friday, saturday and on the eve of public holidays. Their operating hours are from 11:30pm to 4:35am.

Night Rider Services
$3.50 per trip regardless whether you are paying by cash or Ez-link card. Concessionary travel is not applicable. NightRider commuters who pay the fare by Ez-link card will enjoy a free transfer to another NightRider service within the stipulated time.

SBS Transit
Bus Services:
1. Short trips
Short trips are cater to high demand sectors instead of the entire route of a service.
How do you differentiate short trips from the normal trips?
SBS Transit has added a suffix to the service number. Eg.: 51A is the short working trip of Service 51. While Service 51 travels the full route from Jurong East Interchange to Hougang Central Interchange, Service 51A only travel between Jurong East Interchange and Pandan Gardens.
For services with more than one short trip along its route, it will be differentiated by the next alphabet B, eg Service 14A and 14B cover different sectors along the normal route of Service 14.

2. Nite Owl Services
Nite Owl services are premium one-directional services from the city to housing estates. They move along the route that are similar to basic trunk services. It is available only on fridays, saturdays and on the eve of public holidays. Travelling to places like Ang Mo Kio,Yishun,Choa Chu Kang, Tampines,Pasir Ris, Punggol and Jurong West. Its operating hours are from 12 midnight to 2am with every 30 minutes interval.

Fares:
Adult
Adult fares are calculated based on the number of fare stages travelled. Each fare stage is about 0.8 km. These fare stages coincide with specific bus stops of each route.
